March 8, 2014 - I saw some very cool Arduino projects on Youtube one day and decided to start one of my own. I bought an Arduino Mega2560 compatible board online and ran through the examples at arduino.cc. Being a Nintendo nerd, I made a few Mario Bros. sounds using a piezo speaker here.
I don't remember I got the inspiration, but I then decided to build an Arduino powered Skee Ball machine. My wife and I always loved Skee Ball at the arcade. The idea is that with the Arduino I could program multiple game types (single and 2 player) similar to an electronic dart board. Two player game types might include countdown to zero from a specific number (300, 500, 1000, 2000) or first to get numbers sequentially (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 100, 100). Single player games could include classic, double or nothing, or least number of balls to accomplish some goal.
At this point, have most of the electronics needed including the LED matrix for the display.
